This medicine lowers cholesterol in the blood by stimulating catabolic excretion of cholesterol into the bile and inhibiting cholesterol synthesis.
It is usually used in the treatment of hyperlipidemia (including familial hypercholesterolemia and xanthoma).

Usage/Dosage
-
In general, for adults, take 1 tablet (250 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, twice daily after meals. The dosage may be adjusted according to your disease, age or symptoms. For the treatment of familial hypercholesterolemia, the daily dosage may be increased up to 4 tablets (1,000 mg). Strictly follow the instructions.
If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Cautions

If you have previously experienced any allergic reaction (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
If you have recent myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure or ventricular arrhythmia.
If you have previously been told that you are predisposed to develop QT prolongation (congenital long QT syndrome, hypopotassemia, etc.).
If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Strictly follow diet and exercise therapy instructed by your doctor.
Regular blood tests or electrocardiography may be required while taking this medicine. In that case, undergo the test on your designated date and time.
Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them. If you don't know how to discard, consult your pharmacy or medical institution about how to discard them. Do not give this medicine to anyone else.

Contraindication

The most commonly reported adverse reactions include rash, itch, dizziness, diarrhea/loose stool, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, heartburn, bloating and malaise. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
palpitation, chest pain, loss of consciousness[ventricular arrhythmia, syncope]
hematemesis, melena, black stool[gastrointestinal bleeding]
numbness of limbs, weakness or muscle atrophy of limbs, pain[peripheral neuritis]
muscular pain, feeling of weakness, reddish brown urine[rhabdomyolysis]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
