This medicine inhibits renal glucose reabsorption, thus reducing blood glucose through the excretion of excess glucose into urine.
It is usually used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Usage/Dosage

In general, for adults, take 1 tablet at a time, once a day before or after breakfast. Strictly follow the instructions.
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.

Cautions

If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
If you have: ketosis, diabetic coma or precoma stage, type 1 diabetes mellitus, infection, in pre/post operative period, trauma.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Strictly follow the instructions on dietary/exercise therapy.
This medicine may cause hypoglycemic symptoms. Take care in working at heights, driving a car or operating machinery requiring alertness.
If any of hypoglycemic symptoms occur, take a sufficient amount of sugar (from table sugar, glucose, soft drinks, etc.). If you concurrently take α-glucosidase inhibitor (a medicine that delays absorption of sugar), take glucose in case of any hypoglycemic symptoms.
This medicine may cause dehydration. Try to keep yourself well hydrated.
Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
Discard the remainder. Do not store them.

Contraindication
-
The most commonly reported adverse reactions include frequent urination, vulvovaginal candidiasis, constipation and thirst. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.
cold sweat, hunger, tremor in limbs [hypoglycemia]
thirst, general malaise, dizziness [dehydration]
nausea/vomiting, deep and heavy breathing, decreased consciousness/judgment [ketoacidosis]
chills, fever, flank/back pain [pyelonephritis, sepsis]
The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
