  • Description
      This medicine decreases blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and suppressing production of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that constricts blood vessels. It also reduces the deterioration of the renal function due to diabetes mellitus.
      It is usually used to treat hypertension, renal parenchymal hypertension, and diabetic nephropathy associated with type 1 diabetes mellitus.

  • Effect/Efficacy
      This medicine decreases blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) and suppressing production of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that constricts blood vessels. It also reduces the deterioration of the renal function due to diabetes mellitus.
      It is usually used to treat hypertension, renal parenchymal hypertension, and diabetic nephropathy associated with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
  • Usage/Dosage
      For hypertension, renal parenchymal hypertension: In general, for adults, take 2 to 4 tablets (5 to 10 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. The dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age or symptoms. However, for patients with severe hypertension, hypertension associated with renal disorder, or renal parenchymal hypertension, the initial dose may be started with 1 tablet (2.5 mg).
      For diabetic nephropathy associated with type 1 diabetes mellitus: In general, for adults, take 2 tablets (5 mg of the active ingredient) at a time, once a day. However, for patients with severe renal disorder, the initial dose may be started with 1 tablet (2.5 mg).
      In any case, strictly follow the instructions.
      If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. You should never take two doses at one time.
      If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
      Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
  • Cautions
      If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
      If you have a history of angioedema.
      If you are currently receiving apheresis (a therapy to remove unnecessary substances using an absorber) or on hemodialysis.
      If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or possibly pregnant.
      If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
      This medicine may cause dizziness or light headedness due to decreased blood pressure. Pay close attention when working at heights or operating dangerous machinery, such as driving a car.
  • Contraindication
      The most commonly reported adverse reactions include headache, light headedness, dizziness, hypotension, cough, discomfort or strange feeling in throat, rash, itch, photosensitivity and hives. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

      The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

      respiratory distress, swelling of face/tongue/throat, hives[angioedema]
      nose bleeding, gum bleeding, subcutaneous bleeding in limbs[decreased platelets]
      decreased urine output, facial or general edema, headache[acute renal failure, worsening of renal dysfunction]
      numbness of limbs or lips, muscle weakness, paralysis of limbs[hyperkalemia]
      redness and swelling of skin/mucosa with rash or blisters, itch, fever[erythroderma (exfoliative dermatitis), mucocutaneous ocular syndrome, pemphigus-like symptoms]
      The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
