  • Description
      This medicine shows anti-anaphylactic/antihistaminic effect and suppresses the action of histamine and inflammatory materials, which cause allergy. It consequently relieves the hypersensitivity of tissues such as airway or nasal membrane.It is usually used to treat bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, dermatitis, hives, etc. It is not effective for immediately relieving an asthma attack which has already developed.

  • Effect/Efficacy
      This medicine shows anti-anaphylactic/antihistaminic effect and suppresses the action of histamine and inflammatory materials, which cause allergy. It consequently relieves the hypersensitivity of tissues such as airway or nasal membrane.
      It is usually used to treat bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, dermatitis, hives, etc. It is not effective for immediately relieving an asthma attack which has already developed.
  • Usage/Dosage
      In general, for adults, take 1 capsule (1 mg of ketotifen) at a time, twice daily, after breakfast and before bedtime. The dosage should be adjusted according to the age or symptoms. Strictly follow the instructions.
      If you miss a dose, take a dose as soon as possible. However, if it is 5 hours or less before the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
      If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
      Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
  • Cautions
      If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines.
      If you have: convulsive diseases such as epilepsy or its history.
      If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
      If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
      The medicine may cause drowsiness. Avoid driving a car or operating dangerous machinery.
      Avoid drinking alcohol as possible, since it may intensify drowsiness.
      Keep out of the reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
      Discard the remainder. Do not store them.
  • Contraindication
      The most commonly reported adverse reactions include drowsiness, malaise, dry mouth, nausea, rash, hives, edema, cystitis-like symptoms (frequent urination, pain in urination, hematuria, etc.) and transient loss of consciousness. If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
      The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

      loss of concentration, uneasiness, sleeplessness [excitement]
      loss of appetite, general malaise, yellowness in skin or conjunctiva [hepatic dysfunction, jaundice]
      The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
