      This medicine works on central nervous system and suppresses excitement of mood.
      It is usually used for treatment of mania or manic state of bipolar disorder.

      This medicine works on central nervous system and suppresses excitement of mood.
      It is usually used for treatment of mania or manic state of bipolar disorder.
  • Usage/Dosage
      In general, for adults, start with taking 400 to 600 mg of the active ingredient a day in 2 to 3 divided doses. The dosage is gradually increased up to 1,200 mg a day with 3 days or 1 week intervals. Then, the dosage is gradually decreased to 200 to 800 mg a day in 1 to 3 divided doses. The dosage may be adjusted according to the disease, age or symptoms. This preparation contains 200 mg of the active ingredient in a tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
      If you miss a dose, take the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
      If you accidentally take more than your prescribed dose, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.
      Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor instructs you to do so.
  • Cautions
      If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) to any medicines or foods.
      If you have: electroencephalogram abnormality such as epilepsy, heart disease, renal disorder, debility or dehydration, disease accompanied by fever, sweating or diarrhea.
      If you are on sodium-restricted diet.
      If you are pregnant, possibly pregnant or breastfeeding.
      If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
      This medicine may cause drowsiness or sleepiness. Avoid driving a car or operating machinery requiring alertness.
      Blood concentrations of this medicine may increase, which may cause an adverse reaction (lithium intoxication) in the following situations:
      when you are unable to take enough food or water;
      when you become susceptible to dehydration (e.g., when you have disease accompanied by fever; or excessive sweat due to either exercises or activities under the hot sun without a sufficient amount of water intake); and
      when you take this medicine concomitantly with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines.

      Keep out of reach of children. Store away from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.
      Discard the remainder. Do not store them. Ask the pharmacist or medical institution how to discard them.
  • Contraindication
      The most commonly reported adverse reactions include tremor in limbs, dry mouth, diarrhea and oliguria(decrease of urine output).
      If any of these symptoms occur, consult with your doctor or pharmacist.

      The symptoms described below are rarely seen as initial symptoms of the adverse reactions indicated in brackets. If any of these symptoms occur, stop taking this medicine and see your doctor immediately.

      vomiting, tremor in limbs, absent minded close to sleeping state[lithium intoxication]
      fever (over 38 degrees celcius), stiff muscles, tremor in limbs[neuroleptic malignant syndrome]
      shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigability[sick sinus syndrome, severe bradycardia]
      polyposia/polyuria, general malaise, thirst[nephrogenic diabetes insipidus]
      faint consciousness, impaired mind, poor judgement[dementia like symptoms, disturbed consciousness]
      The above symptoms do not describe all the adverse reactions to this medicine. Consult with your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any symptoms of concern other than those listed above.
